Looking for Grand Prix China tickets for 2025? The Grand Prix of China is known for one of the most challenging combinations of turns. The first and second corners of the Shanghai International Circuit demand the most from Formula 1 drivers. The Chinese GP has been a regular feature of F1 since 2004. The Chinese Grand Prix is back on the 2025 Formula One calendar. After three years of absence, the world’s best drivers will return to the 5.451km circuit. In the Chinese metropolis of Shanghai, 56 laps have to be completed over a distance of 305.066 km. The fastest lap of all time is still held by seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. In 2004, he did just 1:32.238 over one lap.
The first thing that stands out about the track is its design. If you look from the air, you will see that the track is designed after the Chinese symbol ‘Shang’ which means up. Also the first letter of the Chinese city of Shanghai, where the race takes place. Unique to the circuit are the increasingly narrow turns 1 and 2 where the drivers dive in from the start.
One of the longest straights in Formula 1 is found between corners 13 and 14. At 1.2 km long, this is where top speed undoubtedly makes the difference.
