France, here we come!
After the Kangaroos’ (Australia) 12th Rugby League World Cup victory, we are already looking forward to the next event! Rugby League World Cup 2025 will be played in France, in October and November of that year.
We will go back to where it once began! The first edition of Rugby League World Cup took place in 1954, in France. In 2025, France will return to the rugby spheres again. Matches will be played in 40 French cities in October and November. It is the 17th time this world championship will be played.

Rugby League World Cup 2025 will be the biggest World Cup ever. Why? There will be four rugby tournaments – men’s, women’s, wheelchair and youth (under 19). All four tournaments will have 16 participating teams, meaning there will be 64 teams in France, compared to 32 in England.
France will automatically qualify for all four tournaments: men’s, women’s, wheelchair and youth. France is thus guaranteed a number of places. For the men, Asia Pacific will get 5 to 7 places, Europe 6 to 8, America 2 and Middle East-Africa 1 or 2.
