  • A first-timer's guide to visiting Old Trafford

Hey, Floris-Jan here! I’m a content marketeer at P1 Travel and a passionate football fan. Recently, my friend Emma wanted to see Manchester United and booked her first visit to Old Trafford with us. Here she shares her impressions and tips to help you make the most of your day at the “Theatre of Dreams.”

FJ: What’s it like to attend a Manchester United match?

Emma: “It was fantastic! Manchester’s energy on match day is incredible – there are cozy pubs and cafes buzzing with fans, and the atmosphere around the stadium is just magic.

The chants, the fans, the energy—everything revolves around football! What made it unforgettable was the post-match access to the huge Manchester United Museum with our hospitality package. We enjoyed food and drinks and felt totally immersed in the United vibe!”

FJ: How did you get to Old Trafford, and do you have any tips for visiting?

Emma: “The stadium is really easy reach, making the day a lot less stressful. We took a double-decker bus packed with United fans, which set the mood from the start!”

Top tip: Plan ahead, especially for food and drinks. Around Old Trafford, you’ll find lively pubs and cafes filled with fans, so get there early for the full experience! You can’t beat a solid meal before a game.

FJ: How was the booking process with P1 Travel?

Emma: “I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a memorable birthday gift, and a Premier League game was perfect! We found an ideal weekend match – Manchester United vs. Tottenham – easily on P1 Travel’s website. You can see all the upcoming matches, making it simple to plan.

Since it was a special occasion, I chose the Post-Museum hospitality package, which gave us access to the Manchester United Museum after the match with complimentary drinks and snacks. It was the perfect end to the day!’’

FJ: What’s there to do around Old Trafford on match day?

Emma: “Outside the stadium, there’s a street and a square packed with street food stalls, drinks, and Man United merchandise. The vibe is amazing! I grabbed a pint and a snack before heading in, and it’s the perfect spot to get into the spirit.

Inside, the atmosphere is incredible but the scene outside adds to the whole Manchester United experience – it’s like a festival with fans from all over the world.”

FJ: Any advice for first-time match-goers?

Emma: “Think about what sort of experience you want. If you’re just there for the game standard ticket are great. But if you want a bit more, I’d recommend a hospitality package. You can enjoy a pre-game drink at the bar and relax post-game with the United community.”

Top tip: Check the weather! Old Trafford is an open stadium, so dress for the forecast We were lucky to be under cover, but plenty of fans were out in the rain.

FJ: How would you sum up the experience at Manchester United?

Emma: “It was a dream come true. From the energy of Manchester to the magic of Old Trafford— it came together perfectly. I felt like part of the Manchester United family, even if just for a day. It’s an experience I’d recommend to anyone, whether you’re a die-hard football fan or just want to soak up the atmosphere. A day I’ll never forget!”
