ATP Tour info

What is the ATP Tour?

The ATP Tour is a collective name for more than 60 tennis tournaments in 30 different countries. Tennis players compete in ATP tournaments to earn ATP points. How many points a player wins is a combination of the tournament and where the player finishes. These tournaments are :

  • the ATP 1000 (or ATP Masters)
  • the ATP 500,
  • the ATP 250,
  • and the ATP Challenger.

The highest ranking tournament, the ATP 1000, logically awards the most points.

What is the difference between the ATP Tour and the ATP World Tour?

Nothing, the ATP World Tour is the former name for the same tournament.

The more points, the higher the ranking. Players in the top 100 automatically qualify for the Grand Slam tournaments.
