    Australian Open

Since 1986, the Australian Open has been the premier Grand Slam tournament of the year, played annually at Melbourne Park (Australia). Every year 780,000 spectators come to watch this phenomenal tennis spectacle. In January it is high summer in Melbourne, so it is a good time to book a nice get away and watch some world-class tennis!

    Roland-Garros

The Roland-Garros tennis championships are held at Stade Roland-Garros (France). The tennis complex is located near the Porte d’Auteuil in Paris. When visiting Roland-Garros, you may want to add a white panama hat to your packing list. What strawberries and cream are to Wimbledon, white panama hats are to Roland-Garros. Each year, 2,000 of them are sold for this occasion. No worries: you can buy them there too!

    The Championships, Wimbledon

Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament and the biggest grass tennis tournament in the world. The Championships, Wimbledon takes place around the end of June/beginning of July in the tennis Grand Slam schedule. From 1924 onwards, you had to send a request by letter to the organisation to obtain tickets as a spectator and be able to attend the matches on Centre Court. However, since 2020, it has been possible to buy tickets online for this event. Wimbledon is a bucket list item for many tennis fans.

    US Open

The US Open is the last on the tennis Grand Slam schedule and is held in New York. The main matches are played in Arthur Ashe Stadium, in front of 23,771 spectators per session. Until 1977, the tournament was held in Forest Hills where it was played on grass courts that were replaced by clay in the 1970s. At the moment it is played on hardcourt.

    General information about ATP

ATP is a tennis association that organises all ATP tournaments. ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) is often called the ATP World Ranking. Why? Because the ATP ranks the performance of male tennis players. At the end of the season the best eight tennis players of that season compete in the ATP World Tour Finals. The ATP calendar is usually filled with major tennis tournaments from January to November.

When you visit an ATP tournament, you will only find male tennis players. The female tennis players can be seen at WTA, also called the Women’s Tennis Association.
